All parciantes are required to register their water rights with the Office of the State Engineer, the Santa Cruz Irrigation District and the Acequia de La Puebla. If you own land which has water rights, you own the water rights. If land has changed ownership through a purchase, acquired through inheritance or divided, or by any other method, the water rights must go through a process called Change of Ownership of Water Right at the Office of the State Engineer. Change of Ownership of Water Right is a separate process, separate from the deed process, and it involves the Office of the State Engineer, the Santa Cruz Irrigation District and the Acequia de La Puebla. If you have questions regarding the change of ownership process, check the website, acequiadelapuebla.org or contact the Commission, SCID or the Office of the State Engineer.
The Commissioners are seriously concerned with past due balances. For a variety of reasons, many parciantes are carrying past due balances. These balances must be paid. A 10% penalty will be assessed on past due balances, as per our by-laws (Article 6, Section 2), as of 45 days after the date on your bill. If you have questions, or you dispute your current bill, please contact us and begin to collect all your supporting documentation.
